Greyfriars Bobby from The Heritage Collection by Merrythought - 23cm

During their milestone 95th anniversary year, Merrythought are proudly recreating a small selection of their most iconic designs - straight from the company's archives.
Named as their Heritage Collection, these wonderful pieces will delve back into the earliest years of Merrythought and see the return of some truly unique characters, which have been crafted using the same traditional skills and materials first embraced almost 100 years ago. 

Believed to be the first dog designed by Merrythought, Greyfriars Bobby showcased as a full colour sketch on the introductory page of Merrythought's inaugural 1931 catalogue. Famed as ‘the hero of the most charming dog story every written’, this characterful soft toy was inspired by Eleanor Atkinson's celebrated novel, 'Greyfriars Bobby'.

Almost a century later, this true to life replica has been lovingly hand-crafted from a wonderfully wavy vintage-style, brown tipped mohair plush fabric. He features a black resin nose and wears a Royal Stewart Tartan bow around his neck for the perfect finishing touch.

Greyfriars Bobby has been individually numbered as part of a special open edition and is presented in a grey cotton Merrythought presentation bag with certificate of authenticity
