Peter Rabbit replica 1904-1905 by Steiff - 22cm

Steiff

Catalogue number: 402180

Just like the original Steiff Peter Rabbit from 1904, this beautiful replica is crafted from wool plush and stuffed with wood shavings. His nose and mouth have been carefully stitched by hand. Peter Rabbit wears his trademark navy blue felt jacket and red felt slippers with leather soles. Both the tailcoat and the slippers are embroidered in gold coloured thread. In 1902 a short children's picture book by Beatrix Potter appeared in England with a simple plot revolving around none other than little Peter Rabbit. The huge success enjoyed by this book was reported to Giengen by Steiff's English representative, Hughes. Inspired by this book, a bunny sitting on his hind legs was released, dressed in a felt jacket and slippers.

He is limited to 3,000 piece and comes with his numbered certificate in a Steiff gift box.

Originally released by Steiff in 2002, The Bear Garden is re-homing this charming piece. He is in perfect condition and comes with his original box as pictured.
