Hansel Teddy Bear by Steiff - 36cm

Catalogue number: 006968

Please note that we have managed to acquire the very last stock from Steiff of this very popular teddy bear! Once they are gone; they are gone, as this limited edition is totally sold out!

In 1919, following post-war shortages of mohair and wool, Steiff began to create bears from alternative materials. Hansel is a beautiful traditional teddy bear crafted from a plush fabric woven from hemp, which is one of the most sustainable plants to grow and needs very little water to thrive. The resulting fabric is hard-wearing, antibacterial and anti-static, which when coupled with modern manufacturing techniques, creates a soft and durable fabric with a similar feel to organic cotton. Hansel has endearing wooden eyes, feet made from a vegan and sustainable fabric crafted from pineapple fibres and he is filled with wood shavings. He proudly wears a distinguished uncoated brass chest tag.

Building on the heritage of bears made like this over 100 years ago, Hansel boasts the beautiful design qualities of a traditional Steiff bear, as well as the modern ethical and eco-friendly attitude to production.

Limited to only 1,000 pieces, he comes with his numbered certificate in a Steiff gift box with its original protective cardboard outer sleeve.
