This exquisite Hermann Spielwaren teddy bear has been created to commemorate the 200th Jubilee in 2020 of the birth of the founder of modern nursing; Florence Nightingale. Nightingale first came to prominence during the Crimean War whilst serving as a manager and trainer of nurses organising the care of the wounded soldiers. She became known as 'The lady with the lamp' when making rounds of wounded soldiers at night and became an icon of Victorian culture. She is made from the finest blond mohair and filled with wood shavings in the traditional way. She wears a beautiful deep purple satin Victorian dress, with a white cotton collar and a white lace bonnet. Se has a gentle tilt growler and glass eyes and carries with her a Swarovski elements encrusted candle lamp.
Florence Nightingale 200th Birthday Jubilee teddy bear is limited to only 100 pieces, which until now have only been exclusively available to Hermann Spielwaren club members but we are lucky enough to have been chosen to be one of a very select number of stockists able to have her so don't miss this opportunity to adopt this very special bear.
German teddy bear manufacturer Hermann Spielwaren was founded by Max Hermann in 1920. Today the company is based in Coburg and is run by his grandchildren, Dr Ursula and Martin Hermann.
