1904 Replica Bear On Wheels by Steiff - 17cm

Catalogue number: 403354

Before Richard Steiff's revolutionary invention of joints to make teddy bears move, wheels on a frame were used. The bear on wheels was produced as early as 1894 and have been found to be made as big as 100cm. This delightful 17cm replica of the bear on wheels is of the 1904 version, which featured this wheel frame and the very first "Button in Ear" - an elephant button without a tag. He is made from the finest brown alpaca and like the original would have been; stuffed with wood shavings and has wooden eyes.

He is limited to only 904 worldwide pieces and has a replica of this original "Button in Ear" and his modern day Steiff tag on his back leg. He is presented with a numbered certificate in a Steiff gift box with a cardboard outer sleeve.
