As the story goes, on Christmas Eve in 1818, a school teacher and organist called Franz Xaver Gruber performed 'Silent Night' for the very first time at the St. Nicholas Chapel in Oberndorf near Salzburg, accompanied by only a guitar after being told that the church organ would not make a sound as a mouse had gnawed the bellows rendering it silent. Gruber composed 'Silent Night' for the Christmas Mass service that night and it went on to enjoy unprecedented success across the world and has been translated into over 300 different languages.

This beautiful teddy bear has been created in tribute to the 200th Anniversary in 2018 of the song's first performance and is made from soft ice blue and cream coloured mohair and decorated with blue wool felt stars embellished with gold braiding and Swarovski crystal elements. He holds an embroidered wool felt scroll with the song name and musical notes on which is also decorated with stars. His foot pad has been embroidered with a beautifully detailed blue and gold shooting star and the 200 years date and the other is embroidered with the song name, musical notes and the edition number. He is stuffed with wood shavings in the traditional way and he has glass eyes and a music box which aptly plays 'Silent Night'.

This exquisite bear is a limited edition of just 200 pieces.
